Same Day ACH
A Nacha capability that lets an originator settle an ACH credit or debit on the same business day rather than the next, using defined submission windows during the day (with deadlines in the late morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon Eastern time) followed by settlement later that day. It speeds up payments like off-cycle payroll, correction or reversal entries, and urgent bill payments, though it can cost the originator more and is subject to a per-transaction dollar cap set by Nacha. Most regular payroll still rides standard ACH, timed to land on payday, so whether a given payment uses Same Day ACH is up to the sender and its payroll or payment provider.

How long does direct deposit take?
Setting up direct deposit usually takes one to two pay cycles, because employers often run a prenote to verify your account first. Once active, each deposit clears the ACH network in about one to three business days and is typically available by payday morning — sometimes a day or two early with early direct deposit.
What is an ACH authorization form?
An ACH authorization is your written permission letting an organization move money to or from your account electronically through the ACH network. A debit pulls money out; a credit pushes it in. Under Nacha rules, a consumer debit authorization must be written, signed, and clearly state the amount, timing, and how to revoke it.
