Beneficiary

The party who receives the funds in a wire transfer — the person or business whose account the money lands in. The sending instructions must name the beneficiary exactly, along with their account number and their bank's identifying code (a routing number domestically, or a SWIFT/BIC code internationally). Because a wire is hard to reverse, verifying that the beneficiary details are correct and legitimate before sending is the main defense against wire fraud.
